The Core Competencies Exam is the final digital, (iPad-based), exam for the Galapagos EDU Core Learning curriculum. While it is a new standardized test like the SAT, unlike the SAT the CCE actually tests students on what is learned in the classroom alongside predicting student performance in university. The Gaokao in China and GCSE exams in the United Kingdom serve as the model for the Core Competencies Exam. In addition, the Core Competencies Exam integrates elements of intelligence quotient tests but instead of simply testing for g, general intelligence, Core Competencies integrates questions with Gardner's multiple intelligences.
